Glenn C. Loury

Merton P. Stoltz Professor of the Social Sciences, Emeritus, Brown University

Glenn C. Loury is the Merton P. Stoltz Professor of the Social Sciences, Emeritus, at Brown University. As an academic economist, he has published widely in the general area of applied microeconomic theory. He has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economics Association, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Member of the American Philosophical Society, among other honors. 

As a public intellectual, writing mainly on the themes of racial inequality and social policy, he has published hundreds of essays and reviews in journals of public affairs in the U.S. and abroad. He is also host of The Glenn Show, a popular podcast and newsletter, author of the widely read memoir, Late Admissions: Confessions of a Black Conservative (2024), and of the monograph, Self-Censorship (2025).
